The Audu/Faleke Campaign Organisation
has raised the alarm over what it described as a sinister plan by the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State in conjunction with some
unscrupulous officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) to double print some ballot papers used during the November 21
gubernatorial election so as to plead for cancellation of such during
tribunal proceedings in order to give PDP undue advantage.
The campaign organisation in a
statement by its Director, Media and Publicity, Hon Duro Meseko, said
it had uncovered “a sinister move to tamper with the ballot papers used
in the November 21 gubernatorial election in the state by double
printing on the APC logo so as to plead for forensic examination of the
breached ballot papers at the Tribunal in order to void a chunk of the
votes of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
“The act which we learnt was
perpetrated within the precincts of Government House, Lokoja, was
carried out by some five unnamed very desperate commissioners in the
state.
“We want to sound a note of warning
that we will not sit by and watch a group of disgruntled elements get
what they could not legally get from the good people of Kogi State
during the election through the backdoor.
“We have it on good authority that
56,000 ballot papers had been breached already. We hereby alert the
various security agencies, INEC leadership and the relevant authorities
of this brazen attempt to subvert the will of Kogi people through the
back doors. A word is enough for the wise!”
The APC had led PDP in the November 21 gubernatorial election in Kogi State by 41,000 votes.
