Yesterday Kogi State Governor-elect, Alhaji
Yahaya Adoza Bello, described the death of Dr. Abdul Attah, a
foremost medical practitioner and Permanent Secretary of the Northern
Nigeria Ministry of Health, as a personal loss.
Bello, in a statement from his Media
Office, said Dr. Attah departed the world when his experience in
healthcare and good governance was most required.
“This is the time when the
experiences garnered over the years by Dr Abdul was most needed to help
reinvigorate our near comatose health care services in Kogi State.
“But this is the time God invites him” he lamented.
The Governor-elect recalled the huge
contributions of Dr Abdul to healthcare services in our nation, adding
that, he will be remembered for his patriotism, professionalism and his
undeniable commitment to the promotion of healthcare delivery.
“He was our father, our community
leader, detribalized Nigerian and a giant in the medical profession who
devoted his life to the good healthcare of others,” he further said.
Bello however urged Kogites and
Nigerians in general to rededicate themselves to the ideals of
patriotism, hardwork and unity which were the attributes of Dr Abdul.
Expressing the readiness of his
administration to mould the youths of Kogi State with these noble
ideals, the Governor-Elect further assured of his preparedness to shift
the state to the lane of development and progress.
He also expressed his commitment to
redefining the developmental worldview of the state through pragmatic
leadership, responsive engagement and people oriented policies that will
uncover the hidden greatness of all our people.
